The title was Statisticians Building Global Science Capacity and Infrastructure.
Science requires statistical collaboration to design studies, collect and analyze data and interpret the results to advance research and support better and more impactful decisions. The vision of Statistics Without Borders (SWB) is to achieve and implement the best statistical practices in the service of others. Ongoing projects include the Caste Freedom Index (CFI) a collaboration between SWB and International Commission for Dalit Rights (ICDR). ICDR, together with statisticians/researchers from Statistics Without Borders, is actively engaged in developing the CFI as a standardized framework for measuring caste-based oppression that will provide a clear metric for determining the current status of discrimination and, as importantly, movement over time towards positive social goals. The measure is predicated on the concept that caste-based discrimination currently exists in South Asia. (Photo provided by Dr. Suchowski).
